The Law Of Attraction – Is it real? Part 2: The Three Keys

The Law Of Attraction – Is it real? Part 2: The Three Keys

In part 1: The Formula, we saw how the LOA recipe for success worked. Why the ask – believe – receive is nothing but common sense.

This time we are going to dig a little deeper, because the formula is not all there is to the Law Of Attraction.

There are three keys that will help you make the most of it.
If you understand how these work, you’ll know why the Law Of Attraction works and be able to use to full effect.

The 3 Keys: Your brain, your emotions and your actions.

Let’s start by looking at what’s between your ears.

Here’s a fun fact about your brain: It does not know the difference between fantasy and reality. Share on X

Yes, that’s right. As far as your brain is concerned, it doesn’t matter whether you are imagining something or experiencing it. There have been numerous studies that have confirmed this.

One study by Brian Clark at Ohio University, found that when the participants were asked to imagine working out, the brain responded in the same way it would if they were actually doing it.

Even the muscles in the body reacted, as if they were working out, and became stronger. Isn’t the brain amazing?

Now maybe you are starting to get why visualisation is so important.

Say you imagine being happily married to the love of your life, buying a big house or fancy car, going on a cruise or winning a Nobel Prize.

Your brain will think it is real, and respond as if it were happening in the real world.

And all the good emotions that you associate with getting what you want, will flood through you. And this is the second key – emotion.

Your emotions tell your brain what to do

Even though you think you’ve got your emotions in check, they are still running the show. Anyone with phobias can attest to this.

If you are afraid of spiders, do you think you can just ignore the eight legged monster in the corner and go about your business? Keep cool, calm and collected, as if it wasn’t there?

Or, will you keep staring at it, thinking about it, worrying, sweating, hyperventilating…panicking?

Exactly.

So, even though your brain is a mighty fine and capable companion – your emotions are in control. Now you will learn how to use that to your advantage.

There is a part of your brain called, The Reticular Activating System (RAS). The function of the RAS is to filter the information you receive through your senses. It decides what to let through to your conscious mind, and what to block as “not important”.

Even though this limits the amount of information you are receiving, it is actually a good thing. Without it you’d get sensory overload pretty quickly.

Now, if you have a phobia of spiders, guess what your RAS will do?
Find every itty, bitty spider in the vicinity because that is what you have trained it to do.

When fear starts flashing its giant warning sign saying, “SPIDER – DANGER!”, you can’t ignore it. And because you react so strongly, your brain thinks this is important for your survival.

Therefore it marks information about spiders as TOP PRIORITY and scans the environment for them. And when it finds one, it pushes this knowledge through to your conscious mind.

This happens with what you love as well.

Love and gratitude are great attractors

When you’re in love, you can’t stop staring at the other person.
And everything about them, or that reminds you of them is again marked top priority by your RAS.

You see someone walking down the street wearing the same dress or perfume – you notice. Or, if your crush told you they love the Beatles, all of a sudden you notice Beatles t-shirts and coffee mugs everywhere.

And it’s all because of love, activating your RAS. In other words, you have to feed your brain EMOTIONS. They trigger a response.

Without it, all the imagining in the world will not do you any good.

You have to feel it and believe it

So, if you can make your brain believe that what you want is important, it will help you look for it.

If you’re looking for a partner, a job, a new suit – whatever it is, you’ll notice that which matches your preferences. In other words, you will attract it.

Feeling good and staying positive will also make it easier for you to take action.

Strong emotions, positive and negative, affect the way your brain operates. Negative emotions make it hard to take action and follow through, positive emotions make it easier. Share on X

Just think about cleaning the house, what makes the job easier and time go faster? Putting your favourite music on, or having screaming and crying kids running around?

So, feeling good makes taking action easier.

And yes, action is required. That is the third key.

If you want to win the lottery, you have to buy the ticket

It doesn’t wander into your wallet on its own.

Same thing with your dream partner. If you stay indoors all day, staring at cat videos or playing video games, the house has to catch fire for you to finally get outside and see someone else. Someone other than the pizza delivery guy. The point is that your options will be limited.

It could be that in the past you didn’t pay much attention to the opportunities presented to you. Even if you wanted more money, you ignored job offers that promised better pay. Or, you wanted a life partner, but said no to nights on the town with friends, every time they asked.

Sometimes we have very limited ideas about how we want things, as well as what we want.

Wanting more money means we want a raise, instead of a better paying position or a new job. Wanting a life partner means someone serious and dependable, and those we don’t expect to find drunk in a bar on a Saturday night.

These limiting beliefs may cause you to miss out on opportunities, even when the Law Of Attraction is working overtime for you. If you want to make the most of it, you might just have to expand your horizon a little.

So there you have it.
The three keys to making the Law work for you, and how to work with it.
No voodoo, no humbug. Just a smart way to train your brain for success.

Now that you know how it works, you can continue to train your brain to go looking for spiders, or you can train it to notice great opportunities that will enhance your life.

What will it be?
